Really good Junta the other night, good mix of people, great venue at the Roebling Tea Room (shout out to Bill Murray, who was in the house). Rindy, great job of leading this one and writing this up, but I think the CIA may have dosed your bread, you are the only person in the world who is still talking about partitioning Iraq. While I thought your idea of giving Iran defacto control of southern Iraq's security original, I think you're overlooking the history and ethnicity of the region. Southern Iraq, while Shiite, is Arab; Iranian's are Persian. The Iranians miscalculated during the disastrous Iran-Iraq war in the 80s that the southern Shiites of Iraq wouldn't fight them. The Iranians may have a high degree of influence, but the relative success of Iraq of the last few years in pulling itself away from the abyss shouldn't be tossed aside in some cynical geopolitical endgame to make peace with Iran.
